Incorporated in 1990, Comfort Acrylics,
Inc. provides its products to dentists and dental laboratories
throughout North America, Australia and Europe. Protected by
international patent rights (#s 5,328,362 / 5,646,216 – registered
at the US Patent Office), our flagship acrylic, Talon ®, is the
registered trademark for a material that is unique in the dental
industry.
Talon is a premixed, thermoplastic,
acrylic elastomer that forms the retention for conventional hard
interocclusal dental appliances. These appliances are used for the
management of temporo-mandibular dysfunction (TMJ), bruxism
(abnormal, subconscious grinding of teeth), myofascial pain
dysfunction syndromes (chronic headaches related to facial muscle
disharmony), snoring and obstructive sleep apnea and a variety of
other prosthetic and functional orthodontic appliances.
With properties of thermoplasticity and
resilience at body temperature, Talon ® provides the ideal means for
retaining these dental appliances to the teeth. Since Talon ® is a
methacrylate, its bond to conventional dental methyl-methacrylate is
inseparable and its adjustability and polishability are ideal. Talon ®
is the only thermoplastic acrylic for dental use that has no
leachable chemical plasticizers to provide plasticity. The
toxicological literature clearly indicates visible effects in animal
studies at both the cellular, tissue and organ levels. Please e-mail
us for further information on those studies.
Valuable dentist production time is
conserved by the dependable "double book" appointment for the
appliance delivery. The dental staff can dependably and accurately
seat these appliances for the dentist's approval. Since remake rates
are virtually zero, adjustments are few if any, patient comfort is
maximized and frustration disappears, Talon ® modified splints are one
of the most lucrative procedures in dentistry. Talon ® compensates for
the minute dimensional inaccuracies in dental casts resulting from
liberties taken with alginate and gypsum techniques in the busy
dental office. This compensation provides unrivaled comfort for the
patient and therefore results in a higher rate of compliance and
treatment goal attainment.
Laboratories find greater profits and the
elimination of procedures including: model duplication and survey,
wire clasping and undercut "blockout." In the final analysis, Talon ®
provides greater fees and greater profits for both the dental
laboratory and the dentist.
Please contact us via e-mail to learn how
you can evaluate this appliance clinically without risk. The dental
laboratory division of Comfort Acrylics, Inc. will gladly provide an
appliance fabricated to your specifications. You will never struggle
with the fit of splints again!
Thank you for the visit.
